India at the end of April

My friend and I are planning to spend around a week in India at the end of April. I know it's hot and humid at this time, so I'm wondering if anyone has any idea of comfortable places to go? And how many places should we visit for 7~10 days? Should we take train or taxi (will that be very expensive?) And I don't want to fly between places that are too far...

I've read some posts about staying high round the mountains etc, but I think we can finish that in less than one week?

Any recommendation…

Police Jeeps on the Goan Beaches

I like Goa and have lots of nice memories, but there seems to be a strange tension in the air these days, what with the banning of beef and fingerprints for visa's and all of that bull...
But what really pissed me off was the speed of the Police and Lifeguard Jeeps, that constantly whizz up and down the beach.
I decided to challenge the Police, a little foolish maybe, but here's the video.

Hill View Tiruvannamalai

Although Hill View appears to be a nice guest house, a bit worn but don't expect it to be quiet, probably desperate for custom and just greed, big families in one room and we know what Indian tolerance for noise is like, are they born deaf?

GOA LEGISLATION....... NEW!!!

the Goa government has just banned kissing in public. I suggest that in order to punish such idiotic legislation, we all boycott Goa and try Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Thailand, S.E. Asia etc.
there are plenty of beautiful coastlines in Asia and the world.
happy trails !!!

Varanasi in UP, March end-Apr 2015

Hi,

What are some of the good budget hotels/lodges and/or homestays at Varanasi for a solo female traveler? Also, how many days are sufficient for varanasi? Should 2-3 days suffice? Look forward to the early morning boat rides on the Ganges. Is there anything else that I should remember to do while I'm there?

Many thanks!

Trekking Northern India in April

Hi Everyone

My girlfriend and I will arrive in Delhi on 17th April and keen to join a short camping trek ( 4 days) in Northern India. Potential treks we’ve seen include Chandrashilla, Nagtibba Trek or Mcleod ganj – Triund. There appears to be a lot of trekking companies and would really appreciate advice or recommendations. We’re looking to start the trek on the 19th April. Would also be great to hear from anyone who’s keen to join (prefer to travel as part of a bigger group). Please get…

10 Days in India

I'm having a bit of a hard time deciding where to go this summer. I have 10 days between two study programs from August 18-August 28. I think I will have about रू25000 (~$400)to spend, however hopefully I can save/gather some more money. I don't mind the monsoon/heat, so that's not an issue. I will have to be in DelhiCan people share their comments/suggestions on these places I've been thinking of? I want this trip to be relaxing, as I will be back to city life and studying again afterwards.
