Lonely Planet review

Built during Tipu Sultan's time, the spellbinding Devaraja Market is one of India's most colourful and lively bazaars. Stalls selling all manner of fruits, vegetables, flower garlands and spices, and conical piles of kumkum (coloured powder used for bindi dots on heads of married women as well as other religious rituals) make ideal photographic subjects. Be prepared to bargain when shopping.
