Train

The train is a better bet than the bus for getting to/from Mumbai and Mangalore, but it can be difficult getting a seat into Goa around Christmas. The nearest train station to Panaji is Karmali, 12km to the east near Old Goa. There’s a very busy reservation office (8am-8pm Mon-Sat) upstairs at Panaji’s Kadamba bus stand.
