Anyone do this trek recently? I'm thinking about including it in my trip to the area this early November.

Given that I need to hire a guide to enter the national park and I need to keep a budget in line, are the views from Phalut a must? Sandakphu looks gorgeous, but it's hard to find photos of the views specifically from Phalut, which people seem to talk up more.

Looks like I can do the trek in 3 days if I hike down after Sandakphu, rather than 5 with Phalut. I'm just curious if I'm missing…

Hi all,

there are four of us, two couples, looking for a travel agent in New Delhi to assist us with a four week tour of India next February. We have a good idea of where we want to go but would prefer to have a local company book train & plane tickets, hotels etc, we will also need a car& driver for about 10 days. If anyone can recommend a local company they have used it would be appreciated.

Hi there,

I'm an experienced solo female traveler with 7 weeks from Nov 1 to Dec 23 this year looking to do basically Delhi and golden triangle, then Varanasi and kalkuta in one month and then fly (good move?) to Kerala and do the boat trips and anything else worthy in southern India before making my way back up to Mumbai via Goa to fly home.

Is this time frame ok? Will I be ok with $2000 for these 7 weeks not including international airfare? What should I add to my southern route itinerary?

I know there are a few fans of Dalrymple around these parts. Not recent, however it is not "time sensitive". Courtesy of Mumbai Boss:

Can someone tell me what it should cost for a taxi from Bangalore airport to the Brigade Road/MG area? And am I better off booking a prepaid taxi inside the airport, or catching one outside, or catching a rickshaw instead, or booking a taxi in advance online? I'd actually prefer not to book in advance if prepaid is a reliable and fairly priced option. Thanks for any info.

I'll be traveling to Chennai on business for the month of September, just found out a week ago, but will have some free time. At this point I should have 3 - 2 day weekends and 1 - 3 or 4 day long weekend, I may be able to add a week onto the end of the trip. I know very little about India and am looking for suggestions to fill those free weekends. I'll be traveling on my own.

What I've heard of so far that I think would be interesting the Taj Mahal, Kerala Houseboat tours, Kashmir or a…

Hi everyone,

I'm going to be doing some travelling in Uttarakhand in September. I have a train ticket to Haldwani from Delhi arriving 8th Sep and a flight out of Delhi on 26th Sep.

Possible ideas are:

  1. See some of the off-the-beaten-track areas in Kumaon, around Almora, Binsar, Kausani.
  2. Go to Munsyari and possibly do Milam Glacier trek (7 days)
  3. Possibly do Roop Kund trek in Garwhal (5 days)
  4. See Rishikesh / Haridwar on the way back to Delhi

I'd say I have around 15-16 days in total…

Hi
We are a family of 2 adults and 4 children planning first trip to India. We fly into Bengaluru on 12 Sep and out of Delhi 4 Oct (planning an internal flight for Kochi-Delhi).

What is the best use of time? We like independent travel but I am wondering if it is better to hire a driver and car? Any tips would be very appreciated.

Hi,

I am taking an early morning Spicejet flight from Delhi airport Terminal 1D airport at 0715 departure time. If I taking the first airport express train from New Delhi station at 0445, can I make it to my flight?

I understand that the train journey will take 45 mins and stop in Terminal 3 in Delhi Airport. Do I have enough time to catch the free shuttle bus to Terminal 1D? How far is the shuttle bus stop from the Metro stop?

Thanks
