As a German citizen I had since 1991 5 times a 5 year tourist visa. My present 5 expires in 3 months. Is there a 10 years tourist visa possible for German citizens like it seems to be available for American citizens?

Hello all,

I’ll be visiting a friend in Mumbai in August for a few days and will then spend about three weeks exploring one other part of India. This will roughly be between 8 and 28 August, give or take one or two days. I know that means I’m traveling at the end of the monsoon season, but unfortunately I can only take my vacation then and I am very excited about visiting India. My initial plan was to just see what the weather is like two weeks before my departure, but I’ve been advised to make…

Hi there, my boyfriend and I are planning to travel from Myanmar to North India and work our way down to South India via train over a period of 2/3 months. We would also like to see the Andaman Islands but are unsure if we should do it at the beginning or end of our trip. We are planning to be on a budget so will be staying in hostels or home stays. We would love to get any advise on the best ways to get around, if we should cross the border between the two countries over land or fly, how much…

SIKKIM (plus trekking) info from recent travel experience

We recently completed a pleasant couple of weeks in Sikkim and would like to share some info, elements of which I was looking for on Thorn Tree beforehand.

1) THE VISA ON ARRIVAL (eVISA) WILL GET YOU INTO SIKKIM. I both read and heard people saying that the 30-day eVisa precluded you from getting into Sikkim (and other restricted areas). Not so: we got our Inner Line Permit in minutes, all smiles (it's free) by going through Rangpo…

I'm planning a trip to India with my two sisters, we are planning on spending three weeks there this coming January. They have never been to India before and have requested to go to Delhi and Agra. I suggested we also add Jaipur and either Jodhpur/Udaipur (or both if we have time) Varanasi, and maybe Mussoorie, to get a hill station experience (or will it be too cold/snowy there?), however we're open to other destination suggestions in Northern India too. We will arrive in Delhi on Jan. 1 and…

Hello,
I'm following the steps given in seat61 to be able to make online reservations for Indian train tickets.
I got to the part where I receive the email:
"IRCTC' s Online Rail Ticket Reservation User Registration Confirmation"
And it supposed to contain an Email OTP (Email One Time Password) but the only password it mentions is:

Your user id is ***
Your Password is as you select at the time of registration

No OTP or a link that contains one. Is this normal, as did the procedure change now and…

Hey folks

Wondering if anyone has attended the Wagha Border crossing ceremony?

I'll be going to India next month and this one is on my bucket list. Wondering

Is there anything I should know about getting there/attending? any weird rules, restrictions, specific scams (other than the usual) that I should know about?

Do you need tickets or to get there at a certain time?

Is photography permitted?

We'll probably send the night in the area, is there anything around there that we should do?

we…
