To help foreigners, from today they are allowed to exchange Rs5000 per week in old notes (and they'll probably waste 3 passport pages noting it).
And until Dec 15th, govt entities will be accepting old 500s (only) which will better the acceptance on the street.

Plan on going to Rishikesh for a month to become a yoga instructor. I'm wondering if anyone has ever been to Hari Om Yoga Vidya School? all of their reviews look good but I'd like to here from someone if they are reputable. Also, They're requesting I pay most of the tuition when I arrive. I'm wondering what the best way would be to go about that because I read you can only withdraw about 150 USD a day from atms there? Also if anyone could comment on the weather in January and how much winter…
We plan to go end Aug/Sept for 2 weeks backpacking - Im just enquiring about the cost of houseboats - is it worth bartering when we are there in person rather than booking in advance? And roughly what are the costs of sleeping on the boats, keeping the costs down - looking at the less luxury options

I traveled to India about 2 years ago and was only in the south; Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Any advice for traveling in the north? Any advice for solo female travelers?
Has anyone travelled Delhi to Dharamsala? It will be my first time solo travel in India and would like to take the "easiest/safest" route while I "ease" my way into India (if such a thing exists). Train tickets are booked out for the day I want to travel, although I have been told I could possibly get a ticket on the day at the Delhi station as tourist quota, any ideas on this? Much appreciated.

I am planning a 3 month trip in India and would love local/experienced knowledge as well as any other advice the community can give! I plan to travel from Mid August to Mid November so weather considerations are also a factor. I've traveled quite a bit globally, but never for longer then 2 or 3 weeks so this is my first long trip.
Here is my rough itinerary and rough amounts of time I plan to spend in each area. If this is too much/not enough time please let me know, as well as sites…
