Lonely Planet review for Gulati

Gulati maintains a largely North Indian focus. Stand-outs to try include the tangri kebab (charcoal-grilled chicken drumsticks) and dum aloo (stuffed potatoes).

    A midnight’s dream…come true

    savoirfaire recommends this,

A raunchy number just got over and the radio jockey is announcing that it’s 1 am. We’ve driven five hours to reach Delhi. Still have a long way ahead. Fooooood…yells my stomach. Five star coffee shop…says my head. Not in the prim mood...pleads my heart. So we head to Pandara road because I remember that it’s one place that’ll serve filling food at this hour without asking us to get out of our lazy informal skins.
The enclosure has restaurants offering varied cuisines, but we settle for Gulatis…you know there are those days when you want to gorge on something rich n creamy, simmered to perfection, finger-licking tasty and quintessentially Indian.
We’re confused…should it be chicken biryani or daal sabzi or mutton roti? Ably assisted by the Peshawari attired waiter, we settle for butter chicken with naan and aaloo dum with lachha paraantha along with loads of vinegar-soaked raw onions.
I still wonder if a midnight meal could get more delicious! We were hogs I agree, but to the fancy of my appetite…it was consummate justice.
