Itinerary queries!

Hi everyone,

I’m planning a trip from south to north with my sister and we only have 21 full days to travel. I would like your advice on the places we have discussed visiting, since I think we have too many places on our itinerary at the moment! It would also be great with recommendations of how many days to spend each place. This is the plan so far:

Alleppey – for a one-night boat trip
Kochi
Mysore
Hampi
Hyderabad
Kolkata
Varanasi
Khajuraho
Delhi

We are planning to fly between Hyderabad and…

Travel safety in Darjeeling, Sikkim, Nagaland, Assam

I am travelling to India for the first time in March and April. I'm a 32 year old male from the UK and am reasonably well-travelled.

I am currently planning to visit the following areas: Darjeeling, Sikkim, Nagaland, Assam (no fixed itinerary yet). I am concerned about what I've read on some internet sites (including the UK Foreign & Commonwealth website) about the safety situation in the north-eastern states. However, I know these sites can exaggerate the risk of anything happening.

Valley of the Flowers Tour Oporator

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone can make suggestions for a tour operator for the VOF. I will be travelling solo so want to be in a group for this portion of my trip.

I have heard Blue Poppy is good, though they seem very expensive.
GMVN is cheaper but I am hoping for a weekend departure and theirs is on Tuesdays
India Hikes?
Dream Mountain?
Anything else?

Many thanks

India tightens visa rules - fingerprinting & need to appear in the consulate in person

So far for Poland only or will other countries follow? According to an announcement on the website of BLS, compulsory visa processing centre for Indian visas issued in Poland (http://www.blsindiavisa-poland.com/), from 2 February every applicant is required to appear at Indian consulate in person to have his/her fingerprints taken.

That means that every Polish applicant will now need to add a compulsory trip to Warsaw to the cost and hassle of arranging an Indian visa. I suppose that the…
