Itinerary
Day 1 Reykjavik
Travel to Iceland and visit Reykjavik. Be impressed and inspired by the world's northernmost capital, which lies only a fraction below the arctic circle and receives just four hours of sunlight in winter and 22 in summer. Perhaps shed some light on Nordic culture at the National Museum or join locals who gossip and chatter in the Laugardalslaug Geothermal Pool.
Day 2 Hvolsvollur
Get a thrill as the Strokkur geyser swells with blue water before erupting and shooting a cloud of water some 20-30 m in the air. Be spellbound by the immense beauty and sheer power of the Gullfoss double waterfall.
Day 3 Vik
View more superb waterfalls before making a stop at the Skogar Museum. Then, spot puffin colonies on the south shore of Dyrholaey.
Day 4 Hofn
Cross squeaky black sands into Skaftafell National Park. Enjoy an invigorating walk to Svartifoss Waterfall and be amazed by some of Mother Nature's finest work on a glacier boat tour.
Day 5 Egilsstadir
Appreciate a dramatic mountainscape while passing through the Almannaskard then explore a local stone museum.
Day 6 Lake Myvatn
Admire the majestic Dettifoss Waterfall and Asbyrgi - an incredible horseshoe-shaped canyon. Gaze out over the glassy surface of Lake Myvatn and finish up the day's adventures with a visit to the 'Waterfall of the Gods'.
Day 7 Hrutafjordur
Witness the volcanic lava of Leirhnjukur, still warm over 20 years after it last flowed, and the boiling mud pools of Namaskard.
Day 8 Snaefellsnes
Venture deep into the Snaefellsnes National Park and spy its magnificent glacier. Stop by a rural church at Budir, stroll along coastal cliffs and admire Djupalonssandur's pebble beach.
Days 9-10 Reykjavik
Hike to the top of Grabrok Volcano and wander through the home of poet Snorri Sturluson. Then, before the tour comes full circle back in Reykjavik, swing by Europe's hottest spring and the picturesque Whale Fjord.
