Hi everyone! This august I plan to fly to Iceland for 7-10 days. I will drive along the ring road, but I am alone, as none of my friends have enough money ( altoughs it is not expensive). I am open to any suggestion regarding time or what type of car we should get ( prices range from 500 to 1100 euros for 10 days). I want to keep costs as low as possible, so I will use airbnb , couchsurfing or hostels.
If anyone with a driving licence would like to join me just reply here :)
Hi to everyone here!My name is Nuno Miguel, portuguese, 35, living in uk, however, i have been offered a job in Reykjavik, Iceland, starting in june/july , and iam looking for a place to live, either outskirts Reykjavik, or around ReykjaviK?I have been in Iceland, in 2007, and stayed for around 7 months, and totally enjoyed the experience, but, as you all know, things do change, and 9 years, change a lot of things, that is why, iam here asking for anyone to help me out, whether they know…
We're 4 experienced hikers looking for information on which Icelandic volcano is possible to climb unguided in July.
We won't have our crampons, ropes etc with us as we'll also be trekking the Laugavegur - so basic hiking gear only (B1 boots, tents).
My family and I (2 kids ages 11 and 13) will be in Iceland the first 2 weeks of August. all of us very outdoorsy and active. We are trying to decide which areas to explore having been advised not to try to do the entire ring road. From an Icelandic source we were directed in the area of the West and the West Fjords but I was curious about the Eastern part of the island and would love some input. We like to avoid high touristy areas, love to hike and my son and husband are huge mountain…
I am solo traveling to Iceland between 8th (or 5th) June and 15th June.
I am planning to make a roadtrip around the island on the Ring Road, with the worthy detours.
I was able to spend 4 days around Reykjavik and the South area a week ago (and the golden circle), so my priority is the rest of the island. I am fine revisiting them though.
I am looking for travel companions for sharing the costs of the rental car, and perhaps the accommodation. 2-3 people max.
If anyone wanna team up…
Hi folks! My wife and I are experienced backpackers. Thinking about a first trip to Iceland this August with about 14 days in country. Want to keep costs real low but will likely rent-a-car (i know, expensive, any tips?) and hope to circumnavigate country and do 2 or 3 backpacking trips en route. Planning to wild camp a bit going around the island, is this possible? Suggestions for adventurous travellers looking to enjoy the great outdoors and keep costs low? We'll be cooking most meals
We'll be spending a week in Iceland from the 11th to the 18th of May and were wondering if it's feasible to camp at that time of year. I know many campsites don't open until June, but is it possible to pitch a tent there anyway? For example, the camping beside Skagafoss?
As for hiking, are there any short hikes that will be open at that time of year. We're going to try to do a circuit of the island, so can't do anything too lengthy, but would like to get away from the road and into the wild at…
Going to iceland 22nd - 25th April. Whilst I appreciate it's harder to see the lights at this time of year all tours have mostly stopped so looking for another way to get out and look at them. Anyone renting a car / know of private tours / other ways to get out and see them?
