Hello, We booked two nights at the Thorsmork Volcano Huts in August and would like to take our daughter on a day hike. I understand the Goddaland area is the most spectacular. Are there any day hikes through there that are suitable for kids? I am considering going with an outfitter such as Icelandic Mountain Guides, but am wondering if we could just hit the trails by ourselves and save the money. Are the trails well tended and marked? Basically, we are looking for astounding scenery without too…

Hi!

I'm planning a 11-day road trip to Iceland on September (from 22th to Oct 2nd). I'm still finalizing my route/days, but my biggest doubt now is if I should stop for 1 day on Snaefellsnes or join a tour to practice some nice hiking and ice climbing on Sólheimajökull Glacier. I've read a lot about Snaefellsnes and how amazing it is. However I will be traveling to other great landscapes throughout the country. Perhaps worth it to dedicate one day for hiking on the glacier and practice some…

Hi, I'm planning to road trip along the Ring Road from September 7 - 16. The end date is still tentative, as I have to yet to book my flight out of Iceland, I already booked my flight there. I am planning to do some hiking for a week prior to the road trip. I'm interested in seeing every waterfall in Iceland, I kid... I enjoy taking photos and hiking. I am planning to stay in hostels along the way as I'm not much a of a camper, but still trying to keep costs low. I'm looking for anyone else who…

I'll be in Egilsstadir and plan to rent a 4 wheel drive to drive to Askja with some friends. I have some questions. Should I be able to rent the 4 wheel drive on the day I want to visit Askja in mid-July or reserve it early? Is there something specific I should prepare for to go there? Is there something specific about Viti to see/hike?

Hi, I just came back from Iceland, travelling 2 weeks around Iceland with kids (a baby and a 5 year old) and I just started a blog on which I share my experiences, trying to give as much tips as possible on traveling in Iceland in general and with children. Before going to Iceland I couldn't find online many information I needed (like diapers price in Iceland) and so I thought now when I'm back I share my knowledge.

hi there,
we were thinking about wild camping in iceland for about a month, from september 1st till around the 10th of october.
we've done wild camping before for long periods of time (Mongolia, Nepal, Parts of China & Tibet), so i'm not worried about the how to's - im worried about the weather.
how cold will it be? is there a high chance for snow? are we talking below zero (celsius) temperatures here? is it still worth going by this time or we'll just have bad weather?

esh.

My husband and I are stopping over in Iceland on the way to and from the UK this august with our 7 month old. We will be in Reykjavik on the 1st leg and have requested a car seat through our airport transfer with Greyline. While in the UK and on the second leg in Iceland, we will be hiring a car. At the moment we have reserved a car seat with the rental companies, but I am curious if I can buy a seat in Iceland for less than the sum of the rentals ($100)? Does anyone know where in Iceland I…
