I am doing a 8 days trip in South Iceland (from Reykjaivik to Hofn and return).
Do you think it is necesary a GPS? The car rental company asks for 80 euros (10 euros per day).
Many thanks in advance

Hi everyone! My husband and I are planning a 14 day trip to Iceland in 2018 to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary but are unsure of exactly when to visit. We are planning on renting a 4x4 camper van and traveling the Ring Road. We want to be able to experience the Northern Lights but we do not want to be unsafe. Currently we are looking at the last week of March and the first week of April. Is this a bad idea or should we put it off until later in April or even May. We really want to…

My friend and I are going to Iceland from mid to late June, 2017. We are planning to rent a campervan. How much does it cost to park the van in the campsites? How easy is it to find a place to stay at night in the camper?

Hey!

From the airport we plan to take Rt.32 through Stori Napur to Landmannalaugar, stay a few days then head south to catch all of the awesomeness there.

We want to see everything from Seljalandsfoss to Vik and also spend a day hiking Thorsmork.
Herein lies the problem...do we take Rt.26 back to the ring road and over to Thorsmork, spend a day hiking there, see all the things in the south and move east around the ring?

OR do we take F208 (we will have a 4x4) to Vik, back west to Thorsmork to…

Hello Everyone,

A friend and I are planning a trip to Iceland in early April. We will be renting a camper-van from one of the local companies and will be making various stops along the Ring Road. We have been looking at purchasing the camping card but are not sure if this is our best option, as we will only be on the road for about 5 days.

We are also unsure if the campsites are open and available for us to stay over night in due to us going in early April. In the case that the campsites…

We (hubby, me and 16yr old photographer son) are embarking on our first trip (10 days) to Iceland in 2 weeks! Here's our "proposed" plan (knowing that weather is a factor). We have a backup plan and will roll with it.

1) We are adventurers and are up for a new lodging nearly every night.
2) Renting a Rover Defender for the entire stay with ISAK (used 20% discount) to tackle inclement weather.
3) Objectives: Northern Lights viewing and extensive photography stops.
4) We are skipping Blue Lagoon…

I have a 16 hour (KEF) layover starting at 1:30pm and ending the next morning at 6am. I am hoping to use my time wisely and see as much as I can without making it stressful. I'd love any advice on cheap tours or must sees.
I know the Blue Lagoon is overrun with tourists, but I'd still like to see what it's all about. I read it stays open until 11pm, so I thought one possibility would be to get there around 6-8 and stay until close then head to the airport and get a few hours sleep there. That…

Hi, we are two friends and now we are working in Iceland. In the end of our staying in Iceland we want to explore the north of Iceland and we are looking for two more people who would like to do it with us. We plan to rent car, so it is priority for people who have driver's license. :) we are planning to travel 5/29/17-6/3/17. So, would you like to join us? :) We can promise good time and fun conversations. :)
