Hi folks,
I have one day for Landmannalaugar, and I am wondering whether take the bus on my own (100eur) or contract the pack with an agency (240 eur).
I see that on my own, I have free time for a 5 hours trek and a bath. On the other hand, with an agency I would not have that "long" trek, but I would know more hotspots of the surroundings, as Hjálparfoss, Ljótipollur, Forstaðavatn ,Þjófafoss and Hekla, plus 1 hour around Landmannalaugar and a bath.

Is it worth to pay the organized trip or on…

Hi there ;)

41 yr old guy, travelling solo to Iceland from 27th August to 5th Sept.

Looking for travel companions to keep me in some form of reality.

I'm staying in Reykjavik (Hostel Village) till 30th so will be doing some day-trip type stuff around there until then. From 30th I'm planning on hiring a small car and camping around the island...returning to Reykjavik morning of 4th. Not sure the itinerary yet, will be organising in the next couple of days.

(I'm not much into tour excursions -…

Hi,

I'm trying to organise a week in Iceland from the 6th November. I've never been to Iceland before and after reading a number of posts, I'm not sure if my thoughts of the trip are the best (due to the possible weather problems more than anything!)

I was thinking of the following: -

Day 1 - Reykjavik to Vik
Day 2 - Vik to Hofn
Day 3 - Hofn to Egilsstadir
Day 4 - Egilsstadir to Akureyi
Day 5 - Akureyi to Langalholt
Day 6 - Langalholt to Reykjavik

Any comments would be greatly appreciated. I'm…

I'm (a 30yr old) looking to do a solo trip to Iceland for around a week without driving (I've lived in nyc without driving for awhile and I wouldn't be comfortable). What's the best way to do that? Since I'm going solo I would be open to going with a tour company so I could easily meet other travelers, or public transportation if that makes more sense. I'm thinking early or mid October.

Are there certain tour companies that you would recommend for Iceland with people around my age? Is…

Leaving the Faroe Islands at the end of next week means I have about 26 hours in Reykjavik. I did the Golden Circle Tour and the Blue Lagoon last year when I had more time but this year I thought to find a good whale watching expedition. I could either go out on a boat Friday afternoon or Saturday morning; can anyone suggest a good company to go with and recommend which time is best? I would also need to leave my luggage, perhaps at a Whale Watching office?

Dear All
Is public bus around the island still available between 25 Sept to 10 Oct?
As I will travel solely, is there any hiking tour I could join?

Hi. We'll have about a 1/2 day to stop off and see some sites on the way from Reykjavik to the airport. We'll be driving and will not be going to the Blue Lagoon (going to other lagoons/springs during our trip). I was thinking of going to Kleifarvatn Lake, then Seltun (sorry, my keyboard doesn't have all the proper keys), then the Reykjanes LIghthouse/area on the way to the airport. Is this too much for about a 1/2 day (our flight is at 5:00)? If so, what would you recommend…

We are going to hike Laugavegurinn around mid-september, but are having some trouble deciding on what gear to bring.

What temperatures and weather should we expect?

Hi all,

My boyfriend and I will be heading to Iceland between 11-25th Sept and are planning on renting a car. Currently, we're deciding between:

1) Ford Escape AWD (petrol)
2) 4x4 Dacia Duster (diesel)
3) Toyota Corolla (diesel)

We will be travelling the Ring road with a couple of days in the West Fjords.

For those who have been, particularly in Sept, could you let us know which would be recommended for us?

We're not sure about F-roads, are they absolutely necessary to travel on to in…

Hello,

We are heading to Iceland in October and have rented an RV with winter tires for our time there. We have about 6 full days to explore, and recognize there may be winter (or winterish) conditions at that time.

We are planning on keeping to the southern portion of the ring road and the golden circle, and will be heading to the Blue Lagoon as soon as we land at for 8 am for a few hours until we can pick up our RV.

I am interested in any suggestions on must-see things to do in early…
