Plan is to fly to Bíldudalur on Friday 26 May, rent a car, and depart Keflavik the morning of Tuesday 30 May (perhaps stay in Reykjavík Monday night after driving south.) How can we maximize our brief time in the Westfjords? Can someone suggest an itinerary that hits Látrabjarg, Dynjandi—other sites you think we shouldn't miss—taking into account the driving times, which are hard to gauge from the map? We are happy to stay in different towns each night - or does Bíldudalur make sense as a home…
Hey adventurers and Icelandic explorers, I'm planning for a 2 weeks trip to Iceland starting from 22.June till 07.July and I'm on a budget so I can't afford renting a car alone (If any one interested to join during this period he/she is more than welcome), I'll have my tent, sleeping bag and my (as light as possible) back pack as I am supposed to carry all of these during my journey, I want to go around all Iceland and not to miss all the important sites , I'll stay my first and last days only…
I am adventuring out on my first solo trip - 2 weeks to Iceland... departing on Tuesday! I am super excited for this spur of the moment trip, but I would be lying if I didn't say I was very nervous too. I have been trying to read various blogs and reviews to figure out how to pack, what to prepare for, where to stay, what to do, etc. but I'm feeling super overwhelmed. Did I book too long of a trip? Should I try to find a cheap flight to another country for a few days? The plan right now is to…
We arrive Iceland end of May (20th May 2017). Do you that the road to Kerlingarfjoll will be opened?
I searched on road weather maps but for now I saw that the road is closed.
Do you have any idea if (and how) weather will change within a month? And if the road will be open?
Also – do you know what is the best place to start the trek? We want to hitchhike, so I really hope to get lucky on road…
The prices quoted for the airport transfer from Keflavik to the city seem a bit unreasonable to me.
Can anyone please advise me whether any money can be saved by walking into Reykjanesbaer and taking the Route 55 to Reykjavik from there?
I also thought about heading directly to the Blue Lagoon from the airport and bussing into the city from there. Could somebody please give me an idea of the bus fare for that trip?
I'm afraid taxis are beyond my budget but I don't mind walking a few Ks to save…
My husband and I are flying Iceland Air to and from Europe in June. On the return we will be at the Keflavik airport for over 10 hours and unfortunately they are night time hours. Any suggestions on how to pass that many hours at the airport. Will there be any restaurants open after 10:00 pm? Is there any semi-comfortable place to try to get some sleep? We considered trying to get lodging but between the cost of the taxi and the room it doesn't seem worth it.
We are going on a family trip to Iceland in august and I would like to go riding. Many different companies offer a variety of riding tours so I'm a bit lost when trying to choose. I'm looking for tours where you can see much of the Icelandic nature. I'm an experienced rider though I haven't been riding for the last seven years. I would like to book either a daytour or a two day tour. What tourcompany would you recommend?
Travelling to Iceland next week for 5 full days/6 nights and would really appreciate thoughts on below itinerary. Broadly will be seeing all the things on this map (https://guidetoiceland.is/image/275987/x/0/best-attractions-by-the-ring-road-of-iceland-3.jpg) that are close to the places listed below. Really appreciate your feedback, particularly on where to stay the third night!
Day 1: Arrive Reykjavik and head to Vik, stopping off at sights along the way (not Golden circle)…
Hi everyone. I'm trying to translate three phrases from English to Old Norse. I've already done some work but I need some sort of a verification. Can somebody tell me how right my translation is?
Out of mother's deep womb,
into the green world.
Die and be reborn.
Af móður vagga
í grǿnn heimr
Deyja ok verð
I've changed "womb" to "cradle" because I couldn't find such word in the Old Norse dictionary.
Hello everyone! I am considering a road trip around Iceland. I am not comfortable with driving on hills. Are there too many slopes in Iceland? Also how is the traffic density outside Reykjavik?
Thanks a lot!
