My husband and I will be traveling to Iceland, doing the Soutern Route from May 12-19. We will be doing some hiking along our route, nothing too rigorous. I have a pair of heavy duty Merrill brand hiking shoes but they aren't boot height, rather just above the ankle. I think this should be okay but he feels boots are better. Any opinions? Thanks.

Hi guys,

Going on a short trip to Iceland from May 13th-17th, flying into reykjavik. Looking to cover all the usual tourist attractions such as the blue lagoon lake, gulfoss waterfalls, erupting geysir`s and see an glacier and ice cave if possible.

I can see from tourist websites offering tours that there seems to be two main tours: the golden circle and south shore tour but i don`t think either of these tours include the blue lagoon lake which is near the top of our priorities to take in.

Hello there,

My wife and I, from Canada, are starting to plan a trip next April (in 2017) to celebrate my birthday in Iceland. I bought the Lonely Planet guide for Iceland, it is well done, but a few questions remain, especially about the options to travel around. I see that if you stick to the Ring Road, you only need a 2WD, but you need 4WD to adventure in the F-roads. Right now, the Campervan option seems a good choice for us. So here are my list of questions, thanks in advance for your time…

Hi everyone! This august I plan to fly to Iceland for 7-10 days. I will drive along the ring road, but I am alone, as none of my friends have enough money ( altoughs it is not expensive). I am open to any suggestion regarding time or what type of car we should get ( prices range from 500 to 1100 euros for 10 days). I want to keep costs as low as possible, so I will use airbnb , couchsurfing or hostels.
If anyone with a driving licence would like to join me just reply here :)

Hello,

We're 4 experienced hikers looking for information on which Icelandic volcano is possible to climb unguided in July.

We won't have our crampons, ropes etc with us as we'll also be trekking the Laugavegur - so basic hiking gear only (B1 boots, tents).

Many thanks.

My family and I (2 kids ages 11 and 13) will be in Iceland the first 2 weeks of August. all of us very outdoorsy and active. We are trying to decide which areas to explore having been advised not to try to do the entire ring road. From an Icelandic source we were directed in the area of the West and the West Fjords but I was curious about the Eastern part of the island and would love some input. We like to avoid high touristy areas, love to hike and my son and husband are huge mountain…

I'll be in Reykjavik from May 6 - 12. If anyone would like to split the cost of a rental car for a day trip or buddy up for a night out in the city, let me know!
