This was posted several years ago, see further below:

I clicked on the Panoramaland link on that post and it no longer works.

Any idea how to get in or find similar site?

"Another link I'm finding useful is Panoramaland where you can see 360 images of many of the natural attractions around Iceland. I've discovered a few places that I might not otherwise have stopped at, like this huge cave just east of Vik. I drove right past there last time. This might be more interesting if you're scouting…

Hello everyone! I'm planning to come over to Iceland at the beginning of June to live and work. And I'm looking for a room preferably in Reykjavik. Is there any website which has a listing of rooms. or any specific contact that I could get in touch?

Thanks!
Daniel.

My boyfriend and I are flying in to Reykjavik early morning on July 3rd and flying out mid-morning on July 7th. We've got a rental car tentatively booked (not 4WD, but should be OK in summer, right?), but no accommodations yet as I'm still trying to decide on an itinerary. Given our time constraints it doesn't seem feasible to make it all the way around the Ring Road without just driving the entire time. Here's what I'm considering:

7/3 - get rental car, drive from airport along southern coast…

If I check in online, print my boarding pass for my flight and have no checked bags, at what point will they weigh my carry on? Thanks

Hello,
I'm going to be visiting Iceland for the first time this June. I have rented a compact car (very compact), and I'm wondering about the road between Hólmavik and Bíldudalur on the southern route (via Gufudalur). Is this going to be okay in a car without 4w drive? I know the road is paved, but I'm guessing that the car I've rented isn't going to want to be driving through any streams or gravel or anything like that. I'll be taking the Baldur ferry back. Thanks for any advice!!

hi, has anyone any recommendations of where to stay one night between Akureyri and Grundarfjörður? We do not have a strict budget as some nights we are doing 'cheap' and then some nights not so cheap... I mean cheap in an Icelandic way of course....,

Thanks in advance. - we have rented a 4x4 and going in September.

Hello.

My American insurance carrier does not cover me driving in Iceland and my agent doesn't have any other options. I've researched online and haven't found any options. There is discussion around CDW/SAAP/etc. for damage to the rental car but not liability coverage. Travel insurance doesn't cover this. I'm hoping someone on TT can point me to a solution. Thank you in advance.

Hello to everyone!

I am planning to go for a Whale Watching Tour in Husavik at the beginning of July. Do you think I need to book in advance to do the whale watching tour? Or there will be many boat trips during the day and thus I do not need to book in advance?
From your experience do you think there is a very good probability to see the whales in July? And which tour operators do you recommend.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Kind Regards
Mario

Hi all,

I am planning on booking a 10 day trip to Iceland for October this year as a surprise wedding present for my husband to be (going to get the best man to give him the tickets on the morning of the wedding) but need a bit of help with planning what to drive/where to go.

My thoughts so far have been:

Route
Round the ring road - Is this too much in 10 days, will we spend the whole time driving? We are happy to travel a fair amount to see as much as we can but don't want to be up against…

Hi, 2 of us will be visiting from 22 June to 3 July, have 10 days to explore. Have hired a 2wd and will be bringing all our camping gear with us (we are experienced hikers and campers). Getting a little stuck in trying to decide whether to drive the entire ring road or just stick to a few places. It seems feasible to drive the whole thing but don't want to spend the whole time in a car either or be constantly packing up every day. I guess the good thing is the lengthy daylight hours.
