Hello-
I have 5 days/4 nights to spend on my first and likely only trip to Iceland, in mid November. I'm going with my spouse for our 10 year anniversary. We are renting a car. We enjoy hiking and exploring the outback, are in good health, and are used to driving for long distances. Any feedback would be welcome.
Fri: arrive 6:30 a.m. Drive down to Gunnhiver and/or breakfast depending on when we get out of the airport, Blue Lagoon(purchased 9 am)until about noon, lunch and then raufarholshellir…

just return from 10 day amazing road trip in stunning Iceland and some tips...

We used blue car rental, hired 4x4 because we wanted large car and option to do f roads. Although we saw a lot of 2 wheel drives doing the f570 Snaesfellness when then shouldnt have. Personally it's not worth the risk...get a 4x4 if you want to do more adventurous stuff.

Brexit had happened 2 months ago so the exchange rate went from 170 kr to 147 kr to the pound.... Painful!,

We stay in hostels. We shopped in…

Hello! I will be taking a trip to Iceland from January 6-13. I am aware of the very limited sunlight, potential bad weather, and general lack of things to do. I am trying to make a plan of where to go and stay. I am planning on staying Reykjavik for the first couple days but then I would like to go outside the city a bit. We are adventurous and like to do things outdoors. I know the sun and weather make this somewhat difficult, but are there any suggestions on hikes or beautiful scenery…

Going to Iceland for the first week of october this year. Im kind of bummed out that the weather network shows that it will rain for the first few days. Ill just be bringing my ski jacket hoping it'll be enough. I was wondering how the weather will be. Heard that its cold and windy and add the rain too :<
Any ideas if it's ok to bike or if ill be able to see the northern lights.

Thanks,

I have 11 days in Iceland in May, enough time to see the Westfjords. What would be a good base to see Dynjandi and Breioavik? Can I do it from Isafjordur where my flight lands? Also, because I like to go with the flow, I only have reservations my first three nights in Reykjavik. Does anyone recommend I get reservations for the Westfjords and Hofn for May?

Thanks,
John

We will be spending a week in Iceland this November/December and are starting to look at booking lodging. Does this itinerary seem reasonable for winter? I know daylight is scarce so I want to make sure we're not being overambitious. We do plan to rent a car for at least the part of the trip up to the Snaefellsnes peninsula.

Wed 11/30 - Arrive Keflavik 6:35 AM
-Blue Lagoon
-Check in to lodging
-Overnight - Reykjavik
Thu 12/1
-Explore Reykjavik

Hi Guys,

I am looking to spend 5 nights / 4 full days in Iceland in November. I have seen flights arriving into Keflavik after 23:00, do you know if public transport is still running that time of night into Reykjavik? I know there is a hostel close to the airport (FIT Hostel) but it seems to have bad reports, do you have any other suggestions of cheap accommodation close to the airport. The main thing I want to do/see is the northern lights, I have read of…

Hi,

I'm looking for any/all advice on an 10-day end of March itinerary in Iceland. I know some roads are still blocked due to snow. We are two couples renting a 4x4 for this trip. We would like to do the Ring Road but not sure where/what we can see at the end of March. We'll be there March 23rd to April 2nd.

Can anyone suggest an itinerary for 10-days?
Or suggests some tips etc.

Thanks alot for your help!

Lisa

Hi Everyone,

I will be in Iceland 4th Oct to 14th Oct and I am looking to hire a car an drive around the country to see it's beautiful sights and do some hiking during the day, and look for auroras at night.

I will most likely do an itinerary like this one: http://www.hostel.is/SampleItineraries/IcelandontheRingRoadcomfort/

If anyone is interested in joining me to have a travel buddy and to share the cost of the car etc, then please let me know :-)

I am male, 32, from Sydney Australia and…

Hi everyone,

I'm doing a 2 week campervan ring-road trip with a friend around Iceland from 31 Oct-15 Nov. I love getting out in nature on foot, but have obviously read a lot about the conditions in Iceland in the winter. Are there areas or hikes recommended for this period of time? It'd be especially nice to get up somewhere with some good views and vantage points of glaciers and mountains. I'm experienced (I'm currently working at 10,000 feet on top of the Greenland Ice Sheet--thus the…
