We want to rent a car for the week that we will be in Iceland (Nov. 30-Dec. 7), to take any day trips and also to drive up to Arnarstapi/the Snaefelsness peninsula for a couple of days. At some point while researching I came across Sad Cars. I have seen Cars Iceland recommended a lot, but does anyone have experience with Sad Cars?
The price is almost half of what Cars Iceland charges for the week for a comparable vehicle (Toyota Rav4 4x4 Automatic). It looks like the insurance may be less…
Planning a family trip to Iceland and I am struggling to find accommodations for 5-6 people other than hotels (way too expensive and pain). We are looking for recommendations for anywhere in Iceland but it has to be an apartment or cabin with kitchen... Lets keep the price under $350....
Thank you ahead of time :)
I'm bringing a friend to Iceland the first week of December to photograph northern lights and see the landscapes, and we're trying to plan our drive around the country.
As an important first note: I've driven the ring road before in early April a few years ago, and drove through LOTS of snowstorms and white-outs, experienced several road closures, had to sleep in my car instead of a tent due to winds and snow, etc. So I'm well aware of what the fringe of winter is like in Iceland…
I am planning a trip to Iceland in November and my initial plans involves me arriving at Keflavik airport at 10.20 on an EasyJet flight before transferring onto Air Iceland and flying to Akureyri from Reykjavik domestic airport. I am considering booking the 12.50 flight, but is this enough time to get off one plane and get a bus to the other airport for the next plane? If I don't get the 12.50, the next flight is at 16.10 so don't really fancy hanging around for it.
Hey everyone this is my first time visiting Iceland and every forum, vlog, blog, you name it says the best way to see the country is by vehicle. So my fiancé and I plan on renting a car. I've read so many blogs about people getting screwed over from car rental places over a tiny scratch. Can ANYONE recommend me a good, reputable rental site so I can finish this part of my trip. Also I already plan on getting a 4WD. Any other tips are welcome too as this will be my first time driving in a…
x-posted from the diving branch.
Ok... this question is kind of specific but you never know your luck on the internet!
My husband and I plan to go to Iceland next July. We'd love to explore the Silfra fissure as part of the trip. We're both certified Advanced Open Water divers but have never used dry suits.
I've been researching and reading lots of reviews and I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion on the option of free diving (for people who have never tried free diving) vs scuba diving (for…
Beware, beware. When we returned the Toyota Yaris to the Hertz office in Kevlavik airport, they marked a scratch of 1 cm, not more on the left door. For them this was a medium damage of 860€? It seems impossible, but these were their internal rules they said, listed in their system that they showed us. As we react, they would catalogue the medium damage as a small damage and we would have to pay 650€ if we signed the paper. This was still impossible and unfair, so we didn't sign. No…
I'm trying to plan an Iceland trip for July next year (so I've only just started looking into it). I'm thinking it would be awesome to include hiking the Laugavegur Trail but I'd also like to hire a car and drive around the ring road.
Right now it seems like the most sensible plan would be to start/finish in Reykjavik for the hike and then to hire the car and do the driving part. Obviously that involves some back tracking but the only other option is to have the car sitting, unused…
I will be in Spain for a month and I am planning a 3 day trip to Reykjavik so as to see the Northen Lights. First of all, can I be sure that I will actually see the Northern Lights?? I do not want to travel to Iceland in the middle of January and miss them! Also, are three days enough? The weather won't be a problem (I´ve experienced the canadian winter).
Thanks in advance!
