Lonely Planet review for Við Tjörnina

People return again and again to this famed seafood establishment, tucked away near Tjörnin. It serves up beautifully presented Icelandic feasts such as guillemot with port, garlic langoustine, or the house speciality marinated cod chins (far more delicious than they sound!). The restaurant itself is wonderfully distinctive – it feels like a quirky upperclass 1950s drawing room.

Beautiful place and the food is amazing

    thomasville2405 recommends this,

We love this place. It is so cosy and the food is just world class. During our week in Iceland we went to vid tjornina twice and we loved it both times. It is a unique restaurnat and one of the oldest restaurants in Iceland. I think it was opened in 1986. I would recommend this place to everyone.

The best restaurant I ve ever been in İceland

As a scientist to write a restaurant review, you must have a keen eye for detail, sound knowledge of food and an understanding of restaurant esthetics :) thats why I will try to be so clear and helpful for other readers. vid tjornina is very special restaurant for me and for my wife. we had our honeymoon in iceland (well, moslty in vid tjornina :) ) . Our hotel recommended vıd tjornına . food was unique as iceland itself and service was so quick and staff made us feel as comfortable as in our home . when we entered to the restaurant first time we felt like we had a travel in time .the atmosphere was unexplainablly and suprisingly cozy :) excuse my expressions . it was such a beautiful combination of antiquity atmosphere and a modern way of understanding. I hıgly recommend this restaurant if you want to lıve a unique restaurant experience .

    WOW what a restaurant

    baltahzar1407 recommends this,

This amazing place was recommend to me by a friend from the states and I must say it was perfect. It was a busy night when we came but every thing was so smooth and the food we got was wonderful. We went twice during our 5 days in Reykjavik and on the table next to us was David Byrne from Talking heads:)
