I am having my hen do in Iceland in February, already got sight seeing sorted but wondered if anyone could recommend places to drink at night? Not too expensive. Any nice bars or pubs people could recommend for group of 8 women? Thanks

Driving Time to Landmannalaugar / Hike in Thorsmork

Hi there. I have a few basic questions. I have searched and searched but cannot find answers. I'm hoping someone here can help.

  1. How long is the drive from Reykjavik to Landmannalaugar via F208 from the North? From F225?

  2. Is there a shortish hike (2-3 hours) once in L that you would recommend?

  3. Is there a shortish hike (2-3 hours) in Thorsmork that you would recommend?

  4. Is the hike to Glymur really 4 hours if you are in good shape?

We only have 5 days in Iceland. Trying to figure out what…

Snagged Last Ice Cave Tour for 2015 - now what?

7 days arriving morning March 30th. After spending a day recovering from jet lag at Blue Lagoon, hopping 17:30 Eagleair to Hofn, renting a car (returning Reykjavic April 3rd). We got literally the last 2 tickets for ice caving in 2015 (March 31st; they don't run in April). Other than the Golden Circle, now what?

Laugavegur Guided Trek

I'm planning on coming to Iceland for about 10 -14 days in summer 2015 as a solo traveler, and am looking to doing a guided hike of the Laugavegur Trail. There seems to be a wide range in prices through various tour companies, though they seem to be offering the same thing. It's been difficult to find reviews online of these guided treks. Has anyone done a guided trek on the Laugavegur Trail? I'm particularly looking at Extreme Iceland, as they seem to have a reasonable price, as well as…

Reykjavik

Hello,

I'm thinking about going to Reykjavik in the end of February for 4 days.
Seeing the northern lights is the main goal and doing tours into the nature close to Reykjavik.
What would those 4 days cost me? Accommodation is around 18€ per day in the hostels.
When I want to see the lights are the tours expensive or how can I do it the best?

Recommendations for 9 Days solo in Iceland

Hi! Planning 9 days either early May or early June. Is May or June better?
Like adventure - plan to rent a car - want to keep minimal plans but will book a guide now for something adventurous not to be missed. Is there a good place to rent a bike and spend a day exploring? Best fishing area?
Is there any place i must have lodging BEFORE i arrive due to popularity?
Not too concerned with spending more to keep no plan and to get guides for trips.

I WILL TAKE ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS, PLEASE…

Solo-traveller finding transport.

Hi all,

I'll be travelling solo in Iceland Feb 24 - March 3, I really want to visit some hot pools off the beaten track, and I'm just wondering about the chances of meeting people with similar plans in places such as hostels? Where would be the best place to go to strike up a conversation that may end in a lift to somewhere cool the next day? (I fly into Reykjavik). Also if any of you are planning to hire a car during this time period, I'd love if I could chip in for costs in return for a ride…

F Roads In March

Hi,

We will be travelling to Iceland from late March to early April. We have a plan during the 2 weeks to go around the ring road. As I am aware F-Roads and will be shut.

Would you suggest to not to hire a car that is allowed access to go on the F-Roads?

We are currently looking into a vehicle for 7 ppl, but it would save us money to not use the F-Roads if there closed.

Would you have a suggest to hire a car with the capability or not?

This is what we are currently looking into to hire. h

9-10 Nights in Iceland

Hi All!
I am going on my first solo international trip to Iceland in late July (likely the 21st-31st). I am a solo female traveler and do not have any interest in renting a car so I am not opposed to day trips to the more remote areas. I could use any and all advice on the following things:

X Hostels in the Reykjavik area. (I have checked out hostel.is and spoken to a few people who work at different places, but I was hoping to hear some personal reviews.)
X Food options that are relatively…
