Description

Talk about chilled! Fly in and head directly for the most relaxing spa you'll ever have at the Blue Lagoon, surrounded by magical lava fields and snow capped mountains. With your transportation all arranged, you can have a water massage or just lie back and relax, then catch your transport back to your hotel in Reykjavik.

The Blue Lagoon is a unique geothermal spa in a lava field south of Reykjavik. The geothermal seawater is fed directly to the Blue Lagoon from deep wells, and the water stays warm and inviting year round at 100/110 degrees Fahrenheit (36/39 degrees Celsius).

The Blue Lagoon's warm water and natural active ingredients (mineral salts, silica and blue green algae) help you relax and escape the stresses and strains of daily life. The lagoon's white silica mud gently cleanses and exfoliates the skin, and has a revitalizing effect. The blue green algae nourishes and softens the skin, while the mineral salts balance and relax body and soul.

Choose from a regular bathing experience (approximately 20EUR, payable locally) or upgrade to an exclusive bath for a touch of luxury. Swimming costumes, towels and bath robes are available for hire. If you'd prefer not to bathe, perhaps you'd like to take a walk in the Blue Lagoon's spectacular surroundings.

Bathing in this surreal environment is a unique experience that no one should miss. It's sure to be one of the highlights of your visit to Iceland.

Expensive and touristy by Icelandic standards

    surgerytimes recommends this,

Its best you go there as the 1st thing in Iceland before you see the natural beauties. This place with a few gambling machines added would be a great hit in Las Vegas.
This is half artificial place. A pond filled with hot water from the near by plant.
The water and feeling in it is great but gives an artificial feel. Had this been Disney, I would have rated it 5*. But this is not disney, it is iceland and people there cannot be proud of this commercialization of their natural beauty. The packs and creams sold are beautifully packaged but I am not convinced of their efficacy. Place is expensive by Iceland standards. There are geothermal pools all over the country with token admission fee.
But I could not not go to Blue Lagoon after so much of advertisement.
It was good to be in the water and the views are great too. I had the luxury of sunshine in March but I am sure place would be as pretty in other weather too.
Go for the package that includes gown, towel, mud pack and a drink. You would end up with this anyway so why not take the package.
TIP FOR THE DOUBTFUL: Go to the cafe from the right side, entry is free. Have a drink there and you can see the entire place through their glass windows and also from the roof top of the cafe. You can then decide if it is worth going in.

Good for: Relaxing in water with a drink

Not good for: Cost and artificial feel
