Elding Whale Watching

activities / Nature & wildlife

Lonely Planet review

Elding is the original flavour of whale watching off the coast of the capital. It is also considered the most professional and the most ecofriendly, limiting its power expenditure on its wooden boats. Refreshments are sold onboard, and every trip is staffed by a scientist. Guests walk through a small museum as they board the boat, which gives a bit of background to the life of the local whales. Elding also runs the ferry to Viðey; the noon departure leaves from the Old Harbour.
