Lonely Planet review

Akureyri’s largest year-round hotel (104 rooms) and popular with groups, super-central Kea has smart business-style rooms with good facilities (including minibar and tea-/coffee-making facilities). There’s little local character about it, but some rooms have balconies and fjord views. On-site is Múlaberg, a smart restaurant, plus a cosy lounge, but for our money the Icelandair hotel is a fresher (cheaper) option.

Our independent authors have visited Hotel Kea and selected this as one of our recommended hotels in Around Akureyri.

The in-house restaurant specialises in hearty local dishes made from fresh seasonal produce. Kea Hotel also offers an extensive wine list to suit all tastes.
