Bus
Kecskemét is well served by buses, with frequent departures for the most far-flung destinations. Buses depart hourly to Budapest (1030Ft, 1½ hours, 85km), every two hours to Szeged (1090Ft, 1¾ hours, 85km) and twice daily to Pécs (2410Ft, 4½ hours, 200km). Other destinations include Baja (2410Ft, 2½ hours, 120km, four daily), Békéscsaba (1570Ft, three hours, 125km, five daily), Debrecen (2910Ft, 5½ hours, 235km, one daily), Eger (1829Ft, four hours, 145km, two daily), Gyula (1690Ft, 3¼ hours, 140km, two daily) and Szolnok (968Ft, 1¾ hours, 75km, seven daily).
Train
Kecskemét is on the train line linking Nyugati station in Budapest (1212Ft, 1½ hours, 105km) with Szeged (890Ft, 1¼ hours, 85km). To get to Debrecen (2030Ft, three hours, 180km) and other towns on the Eastern Plain, you must change at Cegléd. A very slow narrow-gauge train leaves Kecskemét KK train station, south of the city centre, up to three times daily for Kiskőrös (544Ft, three hours, 55km). Transfer there for Kalocsa (1420Ft, 2¾ hours, 130km). Kecskemét KK is also the station from which trains leave for Bugac for Kiskunság National Park.
