Kiskunság National Park
Totalling 76,000 hectares (187,720 acres), Kiskunság National Park consists of half a dozen 'islands' of protected land, though much of the park's alkaline ponds, dunes and grassy 'deserts' with juniper trees are off limits. Bugac village is the most accessible part of the park. Here you can see the famous Hungarian cowboys ride at the popular horse show.
The horse show is the park's highlight. Millennium Park
Millennium Park is an attractive landscaped complex behind the Mammut shopping mall, comprising fountains, ponds, little bridges, a theatre, a gallery and, for kids, the wonderful Palace of Wonders. It’s an interactive playhouse for children of all ages with ‘smart’ toys and puzzles, most of which have a scientific bent. Next door in building B is the House of the Future Exhibition, which hosts some unusual shows for kids. You can also enter the park from Fény utca 20–22 and Lövőház utca 37.

The arboretum is about 2km northwest of the centre across the Holt-Körös.

Buffalo Reserve
At the southern end of Kis-Balaton is a Buffalo Reserve, which is home to some 200 water buffalo; the best time to visit is late afternoon, when the buffalo gather near the reserve headquarters. It's more than a trek to get there by public transport, so the only real option is under your own steam; the reserve is near the tiny village of Kápolnapuszta.
