Hi,

I will be traveling to Hungary around October 23rd. I enjoy hiking and backpacking and other outdoor activities. I'm wondering where the best place to go and activities to do would be. I can be a little flexible with dates and location. Countries around Hungary may also be an option like Croatia. Would it be too cold for Split of lake Balaton?

Thank you!

We are couple in our 30's travelling to Hungry for a week and will be in Budapest for New Years Eve 2016/17. We are looking for some fun suggestions for NYE that lie between 20 something frat parties and 60-ish grey nomad talk fests. One idea was a Budapest NYE river cruise?
Has anyone been on one of these cruises?
Or does anyone have any other great NYE ideas?

Beer

I have a really dumb question: are there any Canadian beers generally available in Hungary? I will post the same question on UK forum. I'll be visiting a beer-buff friend in Budapest and would like to surprise him with some Canadian beer but wouldn't want to "bring water to the Danube" as the saying goes.

Hello, I've been doing some researching on how to spend 3 days in mid September in Budapest. It's my first time in eastern Europe and I'm by myself, I have a rough plan right now:
- Zoo
- House of Terror
- Baths
- Castle District
I'm looking for a couple of options that are a little more active but not parks because I don't find it that interesting. Any suggestions? For example, I'm signed up to do a walking tour of a district in Prague. Although I am trying to keep it cheap. Also any other…

Hi there :)

I'm a bit of a history nerd and I am super keen to visit some of the sights in Budapest relating to the Hapsburg Dynasty. I wondered if anyone had any suggestions besides the obvious (i.e. Buda Castle)?

Thanks!

PS: Literally any suggestions would be amazing. Pleaaaase.

Hi there,
Does anyone have experience of flying with wizz air and more specifically how stringesnt is there baggage policy?
Website says; "
Cabin baggage: Passengers are allowed to carry only one piece of cabin baggage. The maximum allowed dimension of cabin baggage is of size 56x45x25cm, but if your cabin baggage is larger than 42x32x25cm you can only take it onboard by paying a fee."

Exceptionally stingy even by budget airline standards!!
Are they likely to check my bag for size ? I'm flying…

We have been trying to book on the Green Hop on Hop Off bus in Budapest for the 18/19 of August, the company is not taking bookings because of a Festival on at that time.
Can anyone please advise of another Hop on Hop Off bus tour?
Also, what is the Festival on in Budapest at that time?
thanks.

I changed my plans and did not go to Hungary last year due to the refugee situation, mostly because I was concerned about getting stuck there as I was traveling by train and the train schedules going west were being impacted. However I am planning to go in the next day or two and visit several cities around the country by train. Is the situation normal now or are there any unusual safety, security or political concerns?

afaik, most, if not all the baths in budapest, except rudas, are mixed baths, right? so except for rudas, the others can be visited by a guy any day?

also, i understand one will get a rubber watch key to enter the bath. does it allow for multiple entry, e.g. i just want to take a few photos before enjoying the steam bath etc, then return my camera to the locker, assuming the lockers are outside, can i still go out and back in again? or are all the lockers inside the bath / paid area?

Hello. My kittens and i are currently in Budapest looking to start a new life based on reports of a better life because of the economy. We have encountered difficulty in finding a rooming situation (Inexpensive) and could be looming at life on the streets. Literally. I Will Not allow this. So I am writing in hopes of someone having experience finding housing, short or long term. Ultimately looking to live in the country (Garden! to romp in), but figure we need a place in the city (?) As a base…
