Getting there & away
Buses depart for Debrecen (1210Ft, 2¼ hours, 100km) every 30 minutes to an hour. If you're heading south, it's best to take the bus, though departures are infrequent. There are nine buses daily to Eger (846Ft, 1½ hours, 68km).
Miskolc is served by hourly trains from Keleti train station in Budapest (2030Ft, 2½ hours, 182km); about 12 trains depart daily for Nyíregyháza (890Ft, 1½ to two hours, 88km) via Tokaj (544Ft, one hour, 56km). Two of these trains carry on to Debrecen (1420Ft, 2¼ to three hours, 137km), but generally you'll have to change at Nyíregyháza. About 12 trains leave Miskolc each day for Sárospatak (774Ft, 1½ hours, 74km) and Sátoraljaújhely (890Ft, 1¼ hours, 84km).
International trains from Miskolc include those departing for Košice in Slovakia (five daily) and Kraków (one daily).
