Lonely Planet review for Menza
This stylish Hungarian restaurant on Budapest’s most lively square takes its name from the Hungarian for a drab school canteen – something it is anything but. Book a table if you can; it’s always packed with diners who come for its simply but perfectly cooked Hungarian classics with a modern twist and chilled atmosphere. Weekday two-course set lunches are a mere 890Ft.

My duck dish was amazing and really well presented!

I thought I should upload this photo to compare with the other one of the same dish! It was one of the best meals I had in Europe. I had the rhubuarb creme brulee afterwards and it was better than any I had in France! Only downer being I went back and the chicken paprika I had wasn't good at all, so I wouldn't recommend that dish.

Good reasonably priced food, pleasant setting, good service.

I had the duck dish which was well presented and tasty. The meat was not the most tender, but still it was darn good. I also had the sour cherry strudel and poppy seed ice cream for dessert which was awesome. In addition to other groups there were several families with young kids there so it is family friendly.

The Best Restaurant in Budapest
jillf recommends this,
The updated Hungarian classics are reason enough to come here (be sure to check out the daily specials), and the tables packed out with locals and travellers make you feel like you've found the most happening place in Hungary. The service is tops for Hungary: efficient, pragmatic, and they'll let you know if you've ordered "wrong"! (You can't have that wine for dessert!) I ate here four times on three trips to Budapest over an eight-month period, and it's the first place on my list the next time I'm back. The prices are higher than average for Hungary but not for Europe, so make sure you save room for a poppyseed-dumpling dessert!
