Lonely Planet review for Klassz

Probably our favourite restaurant in Budapest at the moment, Klassz is mostly about wine – Hungarian to be precise – and here you can order by the 10cL measure from an ever-changing list of up to four-dozen wines to sip and compare. The food is of a very high standard, with foie gras in its various avatars and native mangalica pork permanent fixtures on the menu, as well as more unusual (and fleeting) dishes like Burgundy-style leg of rabbit (2390Ft) and lamb trotters with vegetable ragout. Reservations are not accepted; just show up and wait.

    Poor service

    davidn24503 does not recommend this,

Small, nice atmosphere, good food, but calling the service inattentive would be too generous. We arrived 8 PM on a chilly Friday evening, waited an hour at an outside table for an inside table, waited an hour at inside table for our entrees to be served. During those two hours, we were approached by a server for the purpose of communication exactly twice. That is a long time to stretch two glasses of wine and a bowl of soup. After we finally flagged our server to ask where were our entrees, they were brought to our table a minute later almost cold; they had clearly been plated by the kitchen long before but left sitting by our server. The senior of our two servers later asked how our meal had been, and on hearing that it was not served warm, apologized and brought us each a glass of dessert wine on the house.
