Lonely Planet review for Kárpátia
A veritable palace of fin-de-siècle design dating back more than 130 years that has to be seen to be believed, the ‘Carpathia’ serves almost modern Hungarian and Transylvanian specialities in both a restaurant and less-expensive söröző (brasserie), and there is a lovely covered garden terrace. This is one place to hear authentic csárdás Gypsy music, played nightly from 6pm to 11pm.

Unforgetable interior and great food
lilike recommends this,
The Karpatia restaurant is gorgeous. You got the feel, you are dining in an opera house or even a church; a really pompous restaurant. The atmosphere is fantastic for a nice dinner with your beloved ones and not only the restaurant itself, also was the food excellent. Their menu shows typical Hungarian dishes, I had variations of different meat stews and as dessert a cherry strudel both were absolutely delicious and served tastefully. Not to forget about the gipsy music - you have to like it of course - that was played during our dinner and made the whole evening round. I highly recommend a visit to this lovely restaurant!

Great elitist place
dubidu recommends this,
Food, excellent. The musicians, brilliant. Decoration, really amazing, Prices, high for Budapest but not so much for euro travellers. The waiters: elitists. Perhaps you have the Visa gold, but they don´t know it when you go in, so if you go with backpacker look, or "normal tourist" look, they will not let you sit down where you want. They will reserve for you the more beautiful corner.....
