Lonely Planet review for Lukács Cukrászda

This cafe is dressed up in the finest of decadence – all mirrors and gold – with soft piano music in the background. The selection of cakes (450Ft to 1250Ft) is excellent but expensive. Must be because the chief pâtissier has come all the way from France.

    Wow, the grandeur!!!!

    TravellerGourmet recommends this,

We had the good fortune to visit Lukacs Cafe while we were in Budapest last week. On the advice of our concierge we made the short journey down andrassy street. We were greeted with nice friendly smiles and shown to our table. The four of us all had coffee, cakes and water. Everything, and I mean everything was better then I could imagine! I had a chocolate mousse cake, it was perfect. My partner had some Hungarian "Lukacs" slice nice and moist. The coffee was very good, not burnt or bitter like most of the coffee we had in Budapest. The only problem with the place was a minor one. We waited a bit longer then I would expect for our drink orders to come, but the place was busy. When we complained to the waitress, the chef/owner came up and apologized(he said they had hired some new staff), and our order was up in a minute or two after that. All in all, I would say you must try the cakes here, just don't go if you are in a big hurry.
