Lonely Planet review for Auguszt Cukrászda

Tucked away behind the Fény utca market and Mammut shopping mall, this is the original Auguszt cafe (there are newer branches) and only sells its own shop-made cakes (200Ft to 500Ft), pastries and biscuits. There’s limited seating on the 1st floor.

The Café to make your day !

    Plesko recommends this,

Across the street from the Shopping center Mammut (I) is the delightful café Auguszt. You enter a sweet little room with an unique atmosphere. There is a big variety of fresh ice creams and sweets for takeaway, or you can just sit out on the terrace, with a nice cup of tasty coffee and a dessert that just melts on your tongue. You will appreciate the shade of trees in hot summer days. I recommend to take a party of friends. The more people you take, the more desserts you can nob in :) Absolutely a must !

    Another Auguszt cafe!

    kotibor49 recommends this,

I found another Auguszt in downtown Budapest! It is beautiful, giant chandelier and Dürer on the wall 5 meters high. I had excellent cake and coffee! Dont miss it if you are in Budapest. They claim to be the oldest patisserie family in Hungary. I dont know, but the cakes were outstanding!

Auguszt coffee house, Auguszt cukraszda, Budapest, Hungary

    tamashajnal recommends this,

It bills itself as the city's oldest patisserie. It has three branches, of which I've only been to the one in central Pest, all presumably served by its own bakery.

One of the three most important things about the Auguszt is its adherence to the classics of Hungarian pastry making; it turns out the closest things you will find to traditional Hungarian patisserie in the center of town.

While there are newer confections in the pastry case as well -- things assembled entirely out of mousses and air -- its heart is in the old cakes and new takes on the old instincts. An important place to have around...

The owner was there herself (5th generation), she speaks good English, and was very kind and polite to us. Helping us with a lot of things, such as recommending good restaurants.
    Don't miss it!
