Hungarians are very tip-conscious and nearly everyone in Budapest will routinely hand gratuities to waiters, hairdressers and taxi drivers; doctors and dentists accept ‘gratitude money’; even petrol-station attendants, and thermal-spa attendants who walk you to your changing cabin, expect a little something. If you aren’t impressed with the service, leave little or nothing at all.
