Run by the Mellow Mood group, whose properties and food and beverage outlets never seem to rise above the ordinary, it's one of three similarly named pensions or guesthouses in Budapest. The City Panzió Pilvax is the most central of these; roll out of bed and you'll find yourself almost on Váci utca.
This 32-room place is recommended primarily for its location; guestrooms are of a decent size but forgettable, with blond-wood furniture, fake-fibre spreads and drapes and carpet woven for heavy traffic. Some rooms look out onto narrow Pilvax köz, others onto Városház utca but both are far enough off their respective street to be quiet. Rooms are spread over two floors but be warned that there is no lift. Bathrooms have shower cabins not bathtubs.
