Teaház a Vörös Oroszlánhoz
This serene place with quite a mouthful of a name (it means ‘Teahouse at the Sign of the Red Lion’) just north of Liszt Ferenc tér is quite serious about its teas (490Ft to 790Ft). There’s also a Ráday utca branch, which keeps the same hours.

1000 Tea
In a small courtyard off lower Váci utca, this is the place if you want to sip a soothing blend made by tea-serious staff, and lounge on pillows in a Japanese-style tearoom. You can also sit on the tea chests and sip in the courtyard. There’s a shop here too.

Mozaik Teaház
An eclectic – note the mosaic of a satyr outside – rarity among Budapest teahouses, with non–New Age music and smoking permitted (for the moment). There are 100 types of tea on offer.
