  1. A

    Budapest Operetta

This theatre presents operettas, which are always a riot, especially campy ones such as the Queen of the Csárdás by Imre Kálmán, with their over-the-top staging and costumes. There’s an interesting bronze statue of Kálmám outside the main entrance.

  2. B

    Hungarian State Opera House

The gorgeous neo-Renaissance opera house should be visited at least once – to admire the incredibly rich decoration inside as much as to view a performance and hear the perfect acoustics. Visits are guided.

  3. C

    Erkel Theatre

Budapest's modern (and ugly) second opera house is southwest of Keleti train station. Tickets are sold just inside the main door.
