Lonely Planet review for Alter Ego

This is Budapest’s premier gay club, with the chic-est (think attitude) crowd and the best dance music on offer. It can be cruisy, but if you’re seriously looking for action, go to the bar of that name.

    Fun and sexy

    Alter Ego really is the only game in town for gay clubbing in Budapest. Drag shows start around midnight, and it's worth it even if you're not into drag shows because is you arrive before midnight, you'll get a voucher for 500 forint toward drinks. The place is very nice inside, and the music is good. It's more or less typical European electro/club fare, but it's good fun for a dance. Drinks are a bit pricy by Budapest standards, but if you traveling from the North American or Western Europe, you'll probably find the drinks reasonable if not cheap compared to home. The crowd is mostly trendy, but you get a variety as well sometimes.
