Sit back and relax on this leisurely 4-hour half-day trip to the stately mansion of Godollo Castle, the world's second largest Baroque castle and the former summer residence of Empress Elisabeth (Sissi) of Austria and Queen of Hungary. After a guided tour of the castle, you'll have time for a walk in the park-like gardens and a visit of the Royal Stables or you may enjoy some coffee and cake in the Palace Cafe.
Godollo Castle, aprroximately 20 miles (30 kilometers) north-east of Budapest, was the former summer residence of Queen Elisabeth, the beloved queen of the Hungarians. Originally the 18th-century central estate of the Grassalkovich counts, the castle is an outstanding example of Central European Baroque architecture. The estate was transferred to the ownership of the Hapsburg kings in 1867.
Your tour starts with a guided interior visit of the Baroque castle. Afterwards, you might like to take a stroll through the vast park area surrounding the castle grounds. You shouldn't miss a visit of the Royal Stables and equestrian riding school or go for coffee and cake in the Palace Cafe (not included) before returning back to Budapest.
