Buses to La Esperanza pass through the center of town at 6am, 7:30am, 8:20am and 9:30am daily (US$1.58, 1½ hours). For the same fare, there is also a busito (minivan) that heads to La Esperanza at 1:30pm every day.

There is iffy bus service to Gracias that sometimes passes through town between 6am and 8am (US$1.60, one hour); if you prefer not to hold your breath (and pass out) waiting, it’s easy to get a jalón from drivers headed there. Stand on the main road and just wave a pickup truck down. Also, be sure to offer the driver some money for the ride – US$1 to US$1.50 is fair.
