Getting there & away
From Gracias, it’s a 6.5km steady climb to the park entrance; it takes around one to two hours to get there – look for the well-marked shortcut for those a pie (on foot). From there, it’s another half-hour uphill to the park visitors center.
If you opt to get a lift to the park entrance, the cheapest option is a bumpy ride in a moto-taxi (US$3.75 per person). Otherwise, you can either cab it (US$13.50) or arrange a ride through Puma Trail Tours (656 1113; 1-2 people US$13.25, 3/4 people US$17.50/21.25, 5 or more per person US$4.50).
Another option is to enter the park at Belén Gualcho, but there are no park services available at that entrance; besides, the forest is much more pristine on the Gracias side.
