Getting there & away
Gracias is 45km from Santa Rosa de Copán and 37km from San Juan, on good paved roads. From the terminal, numerous buses go to Santa Rosa de Copán (US$1.50, 1¼ hours, hourly, 5am to 5pm) and four directos to San Pedro Sula (US$4, four hours, 5am, 6am, 8:30am, 9:50am); otherwise transfer at Santa Rosa de Copán. For Copán Ruínas, take the San Pedro bus and transfer at La Entrada. The whole trip takes three to four hours and costs about US$5.
The best way to get to San Juan is by jalón (hitchhiking); just wave down a pickup truck on the road toward San Juan. Be sure to offer the driver some money when you arrive – US$1 to US$2 is fair.
Buses for La Campa, San Manuel Colohete and that region leave the terminal daily around noon. See each town for prices and information on return buses.
