Getting there & away
Comayagua’s town center is about 1km east of the highway. To/from Tegucigalpa, Transportes El Rey stops at the Texaco gas station at the highway turnoff, roughly a kilometer from the center of town (US$1.75, 1½ hours, 5am to 7pm, hourly). Another bus line, Transportes Catruchos (same price), has a convenient terminal in the center of Comayagua, but drops you on the outskirts of Tegucigalpa in a rather sketchy area; better to use El Rey.
Transportes Rivera has service to San Pedro Sula (US$3, 3¼ hours, hourly, 5am to 4pm) from its terminal on 1a Av SO at 2a Calle SO. Buses to Marcala (US$2, three hours) park just outside the Rivera terminal wall, with departures at 6:15am, 8am, 10am, noon and 2pm. Buses to La Paz (US$0.50, 30 minutes, 5:40am to 6pm, every 15 minutes) leave from around the corner.
Pickup trucks to Río Negro (US$1.75, four hours) leave from the south side of the market at 11am, noon and 1pm. It’s a long bumpy road, with no benches in the truck to sit on.
