At the ruins in Copan we were both bitten many times on our lower legs by something that looked very much like a sand fly: tiny, V-shaped, black flies. The bites even look like the description and pictures I find on line for sand flies, but it was in the grassy area before the pictograghic stairway. We had sprayed with repellant, but it didn't seem to phase them. We have since been to Tikal and Ceibal and did not get bitten at those sites, only Copan. It's now been almost 2 weeks since we were…
Traveling from Puerto Cortes to Tegucigalpa; passing through San Pedro Sula.
As I understand, La Terminal Metropolitana de Buses is ostensibly the main hub of bus activity in the city but there are many terminals within the city proper, too. I'm not too keen on trying to transfer buses in SPS - how will I know which lines from Puerto Cortes go directly to the main terminal south of SPS?
I'll hopefully be visiting Roatan in March for a couple of weeks. Ideally I think I'd like to fly from Roatan to Tegucigalpa, and from Tegus to Managua, Nicaragua. Will I have to fly first to San Pedro Sula? Anyway, any info and details anyone has on flights Roatan-Tegus-Managua (including approx. cost, airlines, schedule, how far in advance to book, etc.) would be appreciated.
I think I have worked out the El Salvador side of this trip (bus to El Poy) but: what's the best way to continue on the Honduran side: Are there collectivos to Nueva Ocotepeque or rather auto rickshaws/tuc tucs and what would the cost be? Where to get Lempiras and are there any other things to have in mind (heaps of contradictory posts on CA 4 requirements and whether or not you have to get your passport stamped etc.)? Where do the busses to Santa Rosa / San Pedro Sula leave from in Nueva…
A good friend of mine and I are off to Honduras for two weeks over Christmas and we are looking to go to Utila to some diving and chill on the beach.
HOWEVER, from reading online it seems the rainy season on bay islands runs a little longer than in the interior.
We are kinda nervous about spending Christmas in one giant rainfall. So what kind of weather can we expect in Utila over Christmas? It is all-day downpour or nightly drizzles?
Hey, I'm flying into San Pedro Sula around 8pm with an early flight to Roatan the next day. I was planning on sleeping in the airport overnight and was wondering if anyone had experience or knew if it was a common thing/allowed? Will I need to go through customs still or can I sleep in the airport past security?
Hey guys! My husband and I are flying into San Pedro Sula next month December and arrive at 10pm, we are heading to Copan and all the buses leave the next morning. There are a couple buses leaving at 7am that we can catch and head on our way (I've read here that we don't necessarily need to stick with the Hedman company).
My question is this: should we try and find a hotel/other place to stay for the night we arrive or can we (should we) stay at the airport or bus terminal and just wait for the…
I am scheduled to touch down at 12:30pm. Assuming the plane is on time, are my chances of exiting immigration/customs, getting the Hedman Alas shuttle to the bus station possible to catch the 3:00 pm bus to Copan Ruinas?
How far is the main bus station from the airport?
How often do the Hedman shuttle run?
Would I be safer to hire a taxi from the airport to the bus station?
I am only one person with a back pack that may be small enough to check.
