Getting there & away
The road to Travesía is so-so, worse to Baja Mar, and awful to Brisas. In the summer an ordinary car can make it to all three, driving carefully; otherwise only 4WDs can manage the mud. Accordingly, departure times and durations may vary considerably.
Buses from Puerto Cortés to Travesía (US$0.25, 15 minutes), Baja Mar (US$0.40, 30 minutes) and Brisas del Chamelecón (US$0.75, 45 minutes) normally depart from a stop at the corner of 5a Calle Este and 4a Av at 7am, 9:30am, 10:30am, 12:15pm, 2pm, 4pm and 5:30pm. The bus returns from Brisas, in front of the Pulpería Lester, at 8am, 11am, noon, 2pm and 4pm.
A taxi will take you between Puerto Cortés and Travesía for US$3.40.
