Introducing Travesía & Baja Mar
Just east of Puerto Cortés, Travesía and Baja Mar are traditional Garífuna villages with houses built along the shore and fishing boats pulled up onto the sand. The beach at Travesía is cleaner than the one at Baja Mar. Beyond Travesía and Baja Mar and a good distance inland, is a non-Garífuna town called Brisas del Chamelcón, although very few visitors make it that far.
