Car & motorcycle
Most of La Ceiba’s attractions can be reached fairly easily by taxi or bus, but a rental car saves some time and planning. Daily rates average US$40 to US$60, but you can get discounts for economy cars and long-term rentals, and if your credit card provides car insurance.

Local transport
Taxi
Taxis in La Ceiba are easy to find; in fact, they normally find you. The cost of a ride depends on the distance and time of day. In town, a cab costs (per person) US$0.80 from 5am to 8pm, US$1.05 from 8pm to 11pm, and US$1.50 from 11pm to 5am. Rides to the airport run about US$5.30 for up to four people and US$1.60 per person to Muelle de Cabotaje (the main pier). For other destinations, prepare to negotiate and be sure to agree upon a price before you get in.
