    Well organised and good value

    jalexmtl recommends this,

We were in honduras for 3 weeks in Feb./Mar.2011 We wanted to start our trip with a tour of La Moskitia. We had trouble finding this place but with the help of Banana Republic Hostel in La Ceiba, they made phone calls for us to help find the address and called a taxi to take us to the head quarters of La Moskitia Ecoaventuras. Ph number 9929-7532. We took the 5 day 4 night tour. There were 4 of us and that dropped the price per person. We paid $210 US (however they want you to pay in Limperias $L3900.) That was the tour starting from the town of Raista. We had to pay to get to Raista from La Ceiba which cost us approx. $50 US also Paid in Limperas 780 Limperias. Getting to Raista was very easy we had a free night sleep in the dorm room of Ecoaventuras and go up at 5am to catch the bus t 615am (80 limperas each) which was a 15 min walk from the dorm room. The bus took us to Tocoa where a driver in a 4X4 was waiting for us (500 limperas each) The 4x4 took us on a 5 hour adventure ride through small villages and great views of the country side and eventually the last 2 hours was a invigoration ride on the beach to a village (i don't remember the name) which is where a tall man wearing a black cowboy had called out our names he was our boat driver to our first stop in the Moskitia (200 limperias each). The boat ride took about an hour and a half we reached the village of Raista and we were greated by our hosts and shown to our rooms. Very basic but clean and rustic. No electricity but they had running showers with warm water (sun heated tank) We had to pay for our meals (80 limperias) since we opted for that package. We also took some of our own food ie breakfast material. This is where our tour actually started however getting there is an adventure in itself. We got up in the morning and had our own breakfast and our boat driver Mr Tinglas (we were heading to his home) He drove us in his boat through mangroves and small rivers til we reached th main river highway then it was full throttle til 5 hrs later we arrived at his home. (take a good cushion) Simple accomadations but adaquate. THe rooms had 2 single beds in them with great mosquito netting. The shower was basic a barrel of water with a bowl to pour. The toilet was ceramic but the water for flushing was outside with a bucket to pour in for flushing. Great 5 days away from traffic, hussle bussle and time to reconnect with nature. Sleeping in a cabin in the middle of a jungle and all you can hear at night are frogs of may diffrent kinds and crickets singing to each other. Amazing trip and great tour company to ease up the connections. Highly recommend them. La Moskitia Ecoaventuras!!
