Getting there & away
You can reach all three Bay Islands by airplane or by ferry. All flights come and go from La Ceiba, as do the ferries for Roatán and Utila. For Guanaja, the ferry leaves from Trujillo. For some reason, the ferry companies have never offered direct service between Roatán and Utila – you’ve always had to go via La Ceiba. But more and more private boat owners are making the trip, and the price, frequency, and reliability are improving. It’s certainly something that’s long overdue – ask on either island for the latest.
