I'm looking to get from Punta Gorda to Utila next week.
There was a lot of great info on this thread:
Looks like the best option may be to take a ferry from Punta Gorda, Belize > Puerto Barrios, Guatemala.
Then take a shuttle bus from Puerto Barrios, Guatemala > La Ceiba, Honduras.
Then the ferry to Utila.
I have a few specific questions:

I am travelling to Copan tomorrow (5th May ) from Guatemala.
I then plan to re-enter Guatemala up on the Carribean coast. I plan to stay a couple of nights in Omoa on the way.
Is this a great idea, and if so, any reccomendations on transport to Omoa from Copan and places to stay in Omoa.
Thanks in anticipation
I am traveling around in Nicaragua by the moment. I want to go to Honduras next week but I have read that it is not a good idea to travel alone as a girl. I want to see the copan ruins, lagoon and a reserva. I am 24 years old and come from Denmark. Are there someone who could be interesting in traveling around in Honduras for a week?
I found different information about how to get from Utila to Roatan / Roatan to Utila.
We want to travel to both islands in July, so does anyone know:
what's (at the moment) the best and cheapest way to get from one island to the other? And how much ist it (2 persons)? :)
Also: If you've been to the islands: which did you like better and why? Should we choose one of them and stick to it? (we travel there only for diving!) | Any recommendations on cheap lodgings? (Roatan seems pretty…
I'm planning to go on Utila during June to August to make my rescue and my Divemaster. I have sent emails in dive shop on the island and they told me to book in advance because summer is a great period and they cannot guarantee me a spot for the course. Is it so popular that you can't choose you dive shop when you arrive in the island ?
And I'm searching the best dive shop :) so if you have some experience, I'll take them for sure !
Thank you very much
Hey all! Im currently on Utila in Honduras, and would like to get in to El Salvador, specifically my first destination is Suchitoto. I'm having a harder time than usual finding people who know anything about the best way to get there. My preference is always more local, cheaper buses but am willing to compromise a bit if I can makr the journey a bit faster. My current plan is Mon morning- ferry to la ceiba taxi to the bus station for a bus to SPS, spend the night in SPS (which I would prefer to…
I just realized that Hedman Alas is closed tomorrow and can't seem to get a flight on Sosa to La Ceiba. Anyone going that way willing to split a taxi with me?
Thinking about heading to Utila for a month or two starting in May. A couple questions:
- Is it possible to rent a room in a house, rather than a whole apartment
- What is the range of apartment costs on Utila? Not looking for anything spectacular. Only hard requirement is WiFi. Otherwise, happy to sweat it out at night without AC and live without a view.
- Maybe rephrased a different way, "what kind of apartment could I get for $300/m, $400/m?"
Thanks a bunch
