Lonely Planet review for Bassins Bleu

The Bassins Bleu are three cobalt-blue pools joined by spectacular cascades. Dissolved minerals give the falls their distinctive colour. According to legend, water nymphs live in the grottos and sun themselves on a rock in Palm Lake, but disappear at the sound of mortal footsteps. Given the number of mortals hanging around, you probably won't see them.

    Beautiful and Refreshing

    firedrops recommends this,

Bassin-Bleu gets its name from the color of its blue waters. It can be a bit difficult to get here, so it is worth hiring a local to drive you through the mountains and ford the river. But it is so worth it. Bassin-Bleu is an untouched natural wonder. When you arrive, local guides will take you through the short hike and easy climb to the waterfall and pool. The beaches in Haiti are gorgeous, but the waters warm. However, the water at Bassin-Bleu is cool, which feels absolutely divine in the Caribbean heat. Swim and relax in the pool and if you're feeling brave climb to the top of the waterfall and jump off. It makes for an amazing picture! When you get back be sure to tip your guides.
