Health & safety
Dangers & annoyances
Overall, Guinea is a safe country, though crime has been on the increase in Conakry and small-scale tribal brawls flare up in the Forest Region occasionally. Armed robbery of vehicles has increased in the south, so don’t travel at night.
Electricity, running water and phones (even mobiles) all have intermittent service. Most hotels have generators, though they usually don’t run all night at cheapies.
